INKED RESISTANCE

The Impact of Trans Zines on LGBTQ+ Visibility and Activism [Personal Project]

PROJECT DETAIL
As I delved into archival materials and explored design in activism, I worked to create a visually compelling and informative book that showcased my research findings.

Inked Resistance aims to address the crucial role of trans zines during the gay liberation movement in America. This journal presents a historical overview of the exclusion of trans individuals during the gay liberation movement and highlights the significance of trans zines in promoting visibility, community-building, and activism. It explores the different types of zines, from personal stories to political commentary, and showcases how these alternative media challenges dominated narratives about transness.
